Step 1: Go to Import People 📥

  1. From the main menu, open the People section.

  2. Click the dropdown arrow in the top right.

  3. Select Import People.

Step 2: Download and Use the CSV Template 📑

To avoid errors, start by downloading the CSV template provided in Text In Church.

  • This ensures all your information is in the correct columns and rows.

  • Common fields include:

    • First Name

    • Last Name

    • Email Address ✉️

    • Phone Number 📱 (primary and any additional numbers)

    • Street Address 🏡

    • City, State, Zip, Country

    • Comments (great for notes like spouse/children names)

Make sure each piece of information is in its own column.

Step 3: Upload Your File ⬆️

  1. Click Choose File and upload your completed CSV.

  2. Optionally, you can drop all imported people directly into a specific group, or simply import them into your general People section.

Step 4: Match Fields 🔄

You’ll be prompted to confirm which columns match which Text In Church fields, such as:

  • Primary Phone Number

  • Email Address

  • Custom Fields (like Birthday 🎂 or Anniversary 💍)

This ensures your data imports correctly.

Step 5: Review and Fix Errors ⚠️

If there are any issues, you’ll see error messages such as:

  • Invalid Date (e.g., incorrect birthday or anniversary format).

  • Missing Required Info (every record must have at least an email OR phone number).

You can fix these in your CSV and re-import, or manually add those records later.

Step 6: Confirm Import ✅

Once errors are resolved, click Import People. 🎉 Your contacts will now appear in the People section, ready for communication and follow-up.

Pro Tips 💡

  • Use the Comments field for extra details like spouse or children’s names.

  • Always double-check phone numbers and email formatting to avoid errors.

  • If you plan to collect birthdays, anniversaries, or other details, set up Custom Contact Fields first so you can map them correctly during import.

That’s it! You’ve successfully imported your people using a CSV file into Text In Church. Now you’re ready to connect with them and make sure they feel known, noticed, and loved. 💙
