What Are Custom Contact Fields?
Custom Contact Fields are extra data points you can create and store in your contact list. Instead of just collecting names, emails, and phone numbers, you can add details that matter to your ministry, such as:
Baptism anniversary date ✝️
Membership start date 📅
Volunteer role 🙋♀️
Favorite ministry area 🎶
Prayer request history 🙏
This makes it easier to segment communication, celebrate milestones, and keep people feeling known, noticed, and loved.
Why It’s Powerful
By creating a baptism anniversary date field, you can:
Automatically trigger a workflow to send a celebratory text or email 🎉
Remind leaders to make a personal call ☎️
Encourage ongoing discipleship by marking spiritual milestones 🙌
This isn’t just data collection—it’s ministry made personal.
How to Create a Custom Contact Field
Go to Settings ⚙️ in your Text In Church account.
Select Contact Fields.
Click Add New ➕.
Choose the type of field you want to create:
Text (for names, notes, or categories)
Number (for attendance counts or family size)
Date (for anniversaries, baptisms, or birthdays)
👉 Example: Let’s say you want to track Baptism Anniversaries. Select “Date,” give it a name like Baptism Anniversary Date, and save it. Now, every time you add a new person or update a contact, you can include their special date!
Editing or Removing Custom Contact Fields
Do you need to update your wording or clean things up? No problem! You can:
Edit the verbiage of any custom field ✏️
