Let’s talk about a little feature with BIG impact: Smart Save inside your Connect Cards.

If you’ve ever wondered how to make sure the information you collect—like someone’s birthday or mailing address—ends up in the right place in their profile, this is for you. Smart Save does the heavy lifting behind the scenes, so let’s break it down step-by-step.

What Is Smart Save?

Smart Save is the feature that tells Text In Church where to store a guest’s response inside their contact profile.

Without it, the info someone gives you on a Connect Card won’t automatically show up in their People record.

Where to Use Smart Save

You’ll use Smart Save any time you add a new question to your Connect Card where the data should live in a specific field—like a phone number, birthday, or address.

Here’s how to set it up:

Step-by-Step: Using Smart Save

  1. Go to the Connect Card you’re working on
(from the left-hand menu, click ConnectCards)

  2. Open your card and go to Step 2 (this is where you add your questions)

  3. Click “Add Question” and choose the field type
👉 In this example, we’ll pick “Date” to collect a birth date

  4. Add your question label (e.g., “What is your birth date?”) and choose if it should be required

  5. Under the Smart Save section (it’s the second option), click “Smart Save”

  6. Tell the system where to save the answer
🔍 For birthdays, select Contact Date of Birth

  7. Click “Next” to preview the question, then “Save”

That’s it! 🙌 Now, when someone fills out this card, their birth date will be automatically stored in their contact record—no extra steps needed.

Why Smart Save Is a Game-Changer

✅ Keeps contact profiles organized
✅ Eliminates manual data entry
✅ Powers personalized follow-up
✅ Saves your team time and headaches

Whether you’re building a Plan a Visit card, collecting prayer requests, or updating member info, Smart Save ensures your data goes where it belongs—automatically.
