If you’re ready to create a custom Connect Card tailored to your ministry’s needs—whether for updating member info, collecting volunteer sign-ups, or anything in between—you’re in the right place.

Step 1: Navigate to Your Connect Cards

Start by logging into your Text In Church account. On the left-hand menu:

  • Click “Connect”

  • Then select “Cards”

This is where all of your existing Connect Cards live.

Step 2: Start a New Card

In the top right corner, click the “Add New” button. You’ll be given two choices:

  • Use a template

  • Create from scratch

Go ahead and choose “Create from Scratch” and hit “Next.”

💡 Templates are great for quick setup, but scratch builds give you full creative control!

Step 3: Customize Your Card Design

Once inside the editor, you’ll notice your logo and brand colors may already be preloaded based on your Account Settings.

But don’t worry—you can make changes:

  • Update your primary or font color

  • Add a new logo or even embed a video

  • Edit the headline and description to reflect the purpose of your card

📝 Pro Tip: Rename your card by clicking the title at the top. For example, you might call it “Update Your Info Connect Card.” Click the ✅ checkmark to save your changes.

Click “Next” to move to the next section.

Step 4: Choose Your Layout

You’ll now choose between two layout styles:

  • Standard Connect Card – All questions appear on one screen

  • Multi-Step Connect Card – Questions appear one at a time (great for longer forms)

For this walkthrough, we’ll stick with Standard so you can see everything at once.

Step 5: Add & Customize Questions

You’ll already see three default questions:

  • Full Name

  • Phone Number

  • Email Address

But let’s add more! For example:

Add a Mailing Address

  1. Click “Add Question”

  2. Select “Address”

  3. Edit the heading (e.g., “What is your mailing address?”)

  4. Make it required

  5. Click “Smart Save” so it updates in the person’s Contact Address field

  6. Click “Next”, preview it, and “Save”

Add a Birthdate

  1. Click “Add Question”

  2. Select “Date”

  3. Label it (e.g., “What is your birthdate?”)

  4. Mark it as required

  5. Use Smart Save again—this time linking it to Contact Date of Birth

  6. Click “Next”, preview it, and “Save”

📌 Smart Save makes sure all the info you collect gets auto-organized in each person’s profile—no manual data entry needed!

Step 6: Save and Continue

Once you’ve added all your desired fields, click “Next” and then “Save.” 🎉 You’ve now built a custom Connect Card from scratch!

There are even more options in the next screen, like setting up thank-you messages and automations—but we’ll cover those in a future tutorial. So keep an eye out!

Recap

Creating a Connect Card from scratch lets you:

  • Gather the info you actually need

  • Customize branding, questions, and logic

  • Ensure data lands in the right place with Smart Save

💙 This is more than just a form—it’s a powerful way to make your people feel known, noticed, and loved.
