Dashboard Overview
When you first log in, you’ll land on the dashboard. This page gives you a quick snapshot of your account activity, including:
Messages sent during the current billing cycle
Contact records created
Total groups
Emails sent
Minutes used for calling features
You can also view custom date ranges to check activity over a specific timeframe.
Sending Messages
The Messages section is where you’ll send text messages and emails to your contacts.
To create a message:
Select New Message
Choose either:
Text Message
Email
Step 1: Create a Message Title
Your message title is for internal use only. This helps your team identify the purpose of the message later.
Examples:
Volunteer Reminder
Guest Follow-Up
Small Group Check-In
Welcome Message
Step 2: Choose Recipients
Next, decide who you want to message. You can:
Select an existing group
Search for individual contacts
Example:
You might choose a “Small Group Sign-Up” group.
Step 3: Write Your Message
Type your message into the text box. A live preview appears as you type.
You can also use Variables to personalize messages automatically. For example:
First Name
Last Name
Example:
“Hi [First Name], new groups start April 27th. More details to come!”
Step 4: Send or Schedule
In the final step, you’ll:
Choose which phone number to send from
Decide whether to:
Send immediately
Schedule for later
Scheduling messages can be helpful if it’s too early or too late to send a text right away.
Managing People
The People section contains everyone you can text or email.
Adding a New Person
To add someone:
Select Add New
Enter their:
First Name
Last Name
Email Address
Cell Phone Number
At least one contact method is required:
Email address
Cell phone number
Both are recommended whenever possible.
Communication Permissions
Before creating the person record, confirm:
“Yes, I have permission to email them.”
“Yes, I have permission to text them.”
This means the individual knowingly provided their information and expects communication from your ministry.
Text In Church does not support duplicate contacts, so each person must have their own unique phone number and email address.
Using Groups
Groups help organize and segment people in your account.
Common examples include:
Men’s Ministry
Women’s Ministry
Prayer Team
Teachers
Medical Providers
First-Time Guests
Planned Visits
Salvation Decisions
With your permission settings, you can:
View groups
Open groups
See group members
View associated workflows
View connected Connect Cards
Keywords
Some groups may include keywords.
A keyword is a word or phrase someone texts to your church number to trigger an automated response.
Example:
A guest texts:
“WELCOME”
to a specific church number and receives an automatic follow-up reply.
Connect Cards
Connect Cards are digital forms used to collect information from people.
Examples include:
Plan a Visit
First-Time Guest Form
Prayer Requests
Small Group Sign-Ups
Inside the Connect Cards section, you can:
View card performance
See visit counts
Track completion percentages
Run reports
Export CSV files
When responses are submitted, reports will display all completed form answers in an organized format.
Automated Workflows
An automated workflow is a sequence of messages sent automatically to people in a specific group.
With your permissions, you can:
View workflows
See workflow names
View descriptions
Check whether workflows are active or inactive
See workflow steps
Track message activity
Favorite workflows
If a workflow does not display a status, it is currently active.
