Understanding View & Modify Permissions in Text In Church

In this guide, we’ll walk through View & Modify permission levels enabled. These permissions allow you to view and edit many areas of the account while still limiting access to certain administrative actions like deleting items.

Getting Started

When you first log in, you’ll land on the dashboard.

At the top of the menu, you’ll notice an arrow icon that allows you to:

  • Expand the menu

  • Minimize the menu

The dashboard also gives you a quick overview of your account activity, including helpful stats and usage information.

Messages

The Messages section is where you can:

  • View incoming messages

  • Manage conversations

  • Reply to texts

  • View archived conversations

  • Check scheduled or pending messages

  • Review sent messages

Sending a Message

To send a message:

  1. Choose the message type:

    • Text Message

    • Email

  2. Add a message title (optional)

Message titles are for internal use and help your team remember the purpose of the message.

Examples:

  • Volunteer Check-In

  • Guest Follow-Up

  • Event Reminder

  1. Choose recipients

You can send messages to:

  • Entire groups

  • Individual people

  1. Build your message

Write your message using the message builder.

  1. Choose sending options

In the final step, you can:

  • Select the phone number you want to send from

  • Send immediately

  • Schedule the message for later

People

The People section contains all contact records in your account.

Anyone you want to text or email must first exist in this section.

Adding a New Person

Select Add New to manually create a contact record.

Recommended information includes:

  • First Name

  • Last Name

  • Email Address

  • Cell Phone Number

When adding contact information, be sure to confirm:

  • “Yes, I have permission to email them”

  • “Yes, I have permission to text them”

Then select Create Person.

Quick Add

If you need to add several people quickly, you can use Quick Add.

This allows you to paste rows of basic information directly into the system.

Importing a CSV File

You can also import contacts from another system using a CSV file.

For best results, include:

  • First Name

  • Last Name

  • Email Address

  • Cell Phone Number

After uploading your file, you’ll:

  1. Confirm permissions

  2. Process the file

  3. Match your fields

This is one of the fastest ways to bring contacts into Text In Church.

Managing Contacts

With View & Modify permissions, you can:

  • View contact records

  • Edit contact information

  • Archive contacts

You’ll also have access to additional tabs and information inside each contact profile.

Groups

Groups help organize and segment people within your account.

With your permissions, you can:

  • View Groups

  • Create Groups

  • Edit Groups

  • Add members to Groups

  • Modify group settings

Group Limitations

While you can edit groups, you cannot delete them.

If you attempt to delete a group, you’ll receive an “Access Denied” message because deletion permissions are restricted.

Viewing Group Details

Inside a group, you can view:

  • Members

  • Connected Automated Workflows

  • Associated Connect Cards

  • Group settings

You can also manually add members to a group when needed.

Connect Cards

Connect Cards are digital forms used to collect information from people.

Examples include:

  • Guest Forms

  • Prayer Requests

  • Event Registrations

  • Small Group Sign-Ups

With View & Modify permissions, you can:

  • View Connect Cards

  • Edit Connect Cards

  • Create new Connect Cards

  • Organize cards into folders

However, you cannot delete Connect Cards.

Automated Workflows

Automated workflows are sequences of messages and actions triggered when someone joins a specific group.

With View & Modify permissions, you can:

  • View workflows

  • Open workflows

  • Edit workflow steps

  • Adjust timing and delays

  • Save workflow changes

Example Workflow Update

You might adjust a workflow so that:

  • A welcome email is sent 4 hours after someone joins a group instead of immediately.

Once saved, the workflow updates automatically.

Settings

You also have visibility into several account settings.

Within the Settings section, you can view:

  • Account overview

  • Account logo

  • Phone numbers connected to the account

  • Account holder information

  • Monthly messaging allotments

  • Billing cycle reset dates

If you ever need help, the account holder’s contact information is available here as well.
