Here’s how it works:

Where to Find the URL Shortener

From your Text In Church dashboard, go to the left-hand Tools menu and click on URL Shortener. You’ll land on a dashboard showing every short link ever created in your account.

You’ll see two tabs:

  • User Generated – Links you or your team manually created

  • Bot-generated – Automatically created links for things like Connect Cards, Widgets, and Video Pages

How to Create a New Shortened Link

You have two options:

Option 1: While Building a Message

When crafting a text or email, you’ll see a “Shorten URL” button at the bottom. Use that to shorten any link instantly.

Option 2: From the URL Shortener Tool

You can also create a new short link directly inside the tool. Here’s how:

  1. Click the “Add New” or “Shorten” button

  2. Paste your full URL into the box

  3. Name your short link (for easy organization)

  4. Choose your Root URL (how your link begins)

  5. Add an optional prefix (e.g., “TIC” for Text In Church)

  6. Customize your slug (this is the tail end of the link, like “signup”)

🔗 Preview your final link, click to copy it, and hit Save

Manage and Track Your Shortened URLs

Once saved, your short link will appear in the dashboard with helpful options:

  • See how many times it’s been clicked

  • Copy the link with one click

  • Preview what it leads to

  • Use the three dots to edit or delete your link

This lets you track engagement and keep all your communications clean and clickable.

Use Cases for Shortened URLs

  • Include in-text invites to events or services

  • Share Connect Cards in printed bulletins

  • Promote small group sign-ups, volunteer forms, or giving pages

  • Embed in QR codes or social media bios

Pro Tip: Keep It Branded

By customizing your prefix and slug, you make your links look more professional and trustworthy—while keeping your communication clear and straightforward.
